Im toying with the Idea of swapping out the Mechanical clutch linkage on my K3500 and swapping in a hydraulic set up from a newer truck.Has anyone done this and are there any aftermarket conversions I hate digging through junk yards.

We used either a McLeod od Willwood master cyl on my friends truck, combined with a factory late model slave cyl. Has worked great for 3 years now.

Can I use my present bellhousing or do I need one that accepts the slave cyl?

We had a bellhousing that had the mount for the slave. You may have to make a bracket to mount the slave.

You will have to do some firewall work to mount the master cylinder there. I did this on my '82 and basically I cut out the ridge and welded in a new plate and then mounted the master cylinder to that. I did also have to get the correct bellhousing. It worked well. I ended up going back to an automatic for mud racing though.
