If it has the gears you want and things are good enough for now weld it. If everything is f-ed up, weld it. Like you said it is only a temp.

spool...cleaner and easier to sell. also easier to fix if need be. and hell they are only 30 new of you can get them for 15 off ebay.

I don't believe you can get minispools for a Dana 44 for $30. I think a mini for a 44 is about $100 and a full is about $190.

Weld it up, and run it... use the money you saved on it to go out have a :beer: or 50 maybe? Think of the time you save, you won't have to reset your gears or anything, a minispool leaves all the stress on the cross pin, whereas welding it can put the weight on the carrier and other gears and the crosspin... Break out the welder... With a full spool you will need to press on new bearings (that's another :beer: or 2) and set it up again... not cool...

i welded my 60 last year and it works great! I will however vhange when i put the 5.38's in. Just be easy on it if you have larger tires and a v8 or a torquer!!

check out online to find a spool. lots of em around for about 100 bucks or less. my .002
