Heard you lead some of the trails at Paragon.
At the risk of being flamed or screamed at hear goes.
Are their any trails available where I can open it up a little, catch some air, do some river crossings, and especially get to go in 3rd or 4th gear low on muddy wood trails with off camber turns and gullies? I'm not asking to go crazy or endanger anyone, it's just that being in 1st gear low all day on a rock pile gets to be a little too much, I was kinda' hopin' that mabey there was a trail up there similar to a Tuff truck competion track, where you can go a little faster and blast around.
Thanks.

There are a few trails that can be driven this way, but typically the guides will not allow it. There is a park speed limit also, so if your guide is obeying the rules they will keep you from doing that. That being said, I've seen some Hummers rolling through there at a good clip. So, the trials do exist, but you aren't really allowed to do it.

So strap on your flame suit and get ready. As soon as those left coaster wake up it'll get toasty.:D

Thanks for the heads up, I kinda' thought that would be the case.
I wish they could see there way to making at least one trail available in the park for this kind off wheelin'. I'd sign whatever disclaimer was required just to have the chance to have a little freedom and rip around. I'll just catch air and run at a quicker pace on my local trails for now.

Jim,

Is there anyway I can pay to go up there and have a guide take me out with his own rig? Mabey bring another 1 or 2 jeeps with me at the max. I'd just like the chance to go out on a trail without so many rigs, we always manage to spend a lot of time standing still. Thanks for understanding that I'm not askin' to go crazy out there, I just want to be able to move a little. What is the speed limit BTW?

I dont know how close you would be to this but driving south on I-95 near (right before I think) the PA DE state line there looks to be some sort of course/trails off to the left (north bound) side. I dont know what it is (motocross?) or how to get there. But maybe that will help ya with your speed fix.

You can go in the park as a passenger, sure. The fee for a passenger is cheap, but you would still be responsible for paying the guide fee. I've led some small groups through and we were able to cover almost every level 3 and 4 trail in the park in a two day span. Small groups are great because you can all be similarly built and don't have to spend all day dragging a lesser built or lesser able drivers through all of the obstacles.

For more information on the park, check out their web site at http://www.paragonap.com. All of the guides are contract workers and not actually employed by the park, so for the "official" answeres to your questions email the park manager. His info is on their site.

Also, the park runs a ride every month now and it's basically open to everyone who wants to show up. Their next ride is on Dec 1 I think. Another nice way to get to know the park is to volunteer for trail building and maintenance. If you go out and work a day, you get a voucher for a free entrance pass. The last I heard those vouchers are good on the monthly park rides. Now is the trail cutting season so new trails are being walked, planned, and built every weekend. Late winter is the maintenance season where the trails are cleared of dead wood and groomed for the spring. It's possible to uild up a good knowledge of the park and collect enough vouchers to have a good spring wheeling season.

Finally, you might ask the park manager about those high speed trails you asked about. I sometimes hear rumors about different things, but never comment on them publically.

I didn’t explain myself correctly. I wanted to go to the park in my rig, and have a guide in his rig, and we would go out and he would lead on the trail. Mabey have 1 or 2 more jeeps included, but keep the group small so we could keep a quicker pace.
I’ll definitely talk to the park manager, thanks for the info.
I was a volunteer for the relief ride. I helped assign and place everyone to their trail at the staging area, and helped set up the refreshment stand. It was busy, but fun.
