I'm trying to decide between a D44 or D60 for a new project. The D60 I would use is from a '79 F250 and I'm assuming this has 30 spline stub shafts. Is there a way to make this 5 lug without spending the $$ for Dynatrac hubs and rotors? What do you have to do to get 35 spline stub shafts? Where can you get high steer arms that bolt to the upper king pin mount?

On the D44, what year Chevy knuckles have the flat tops for a high steer setup, and do both sides come that way or do you have to machine the passenger side? Also, what year Ford hubs work with this for the 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern, and do they have to be from a straight axle D44 or will the hubs/rotors from a later TTB work?

I see most around here like D60's, but I'll be running 35's, and with the $$ (I think) for making the D60 five lug and 35 spline I could get the new 297x u-joints from CTM and alloy shafts......but I already have the D60.

Unfortunately, you need Dodge or Chevy outers for the Dynatrac kit. The 35 outers need 35 spline hubs, only currently available from Warn, but I hear they really suck. Two other options are drive flanges and Spicer hubs broached to accept the 35 spline shafts.

Steering arms are available from Tri County, Sam's, and Avalanche, probably Dynatrac and Parts Mike, besides.

Some info for you...

Howdy........yeah, it's the Goatman. Not a newbie, just around here. ;) My new license plate and e-mail addy is rocknxj, so I decided to use it here. I'm trying to put the pieces together for another rig, and I have a variety of parts available. I just need to decide what I want to end up with.......it's nice to have some choices.

I'm sure I'll hear about Attica. I just got back from Panamint, it was a real bummer we couldn't host Surprise Canyon this year because of the closure, it just wasn't the same without a trip to Panamint City.

The folks around here look like they're pretty up on this axle info, I should be able to learn something.

Yeah..the info is why you'll see me over here also. Warning thought there is also Beezil bouncing in now and then. Looks like you may build something just for the trail? I was with Sean "Jeepfreak" Rose up there and rode shotgun thru Dirty Steve's and the Purgotory Trail...I now want to go bigger, 35's aren't even big anymore!!!
