Oil popcorn tastes the best, but I haven't had an oil popper in years. Hmmm. eBay here I come.

Microwave 4-5 bags a week! I grew up on pop corn, Mom would not allow us to eat chips.

Microwave is pretty convenient so that's what I use. I'd rather have real butter though.

Orville Redenbacher's "Movie Theater Butter", microwaved for exactly 2 minutes - at least 4 times a week! Its only 3 points for a whole bag on my Weight Watchers diet!

I'd DIE without my p'corn - really! :D

I really dig *real* popcorn, but I'm toolazy to make it, so we get microwave stuff. When I was growing up in Venezuela we used to make old-fashioned popcorn in a cast iron pot and put real butter in it. Later on we used to get those funky disposable pans with the expandable foil bag on top, those were pretty cool although I seem to remember them burning fairly often?

Last 10 years I've only had microwave and movie popcorn, and just recently some kettle corn at a county fair, that was pretty damn good!

You gotta do it the old fashioned way: 2qt pot, crisco oil, 1 cup popcorn, shake on top of stove. Yummy.

Yup, oil popped is the best, but at work I don't have a choice.

I hadn't even considered making popcorn without a popper. You can do that? :D

Oil is best, but I'm too lazy. I have an old hand-me-down air popper that is in the back of my closet. I'm not real big on popcorn, so I microwave if the the mood strikes.

And you split that bag up into 3 portions, right? Cause how can 500 calories of fat be ok as far as Weight Watchers is concerned?

 No shit!

That mornings bacon grease in a 2qt pot.

Try it. :D

Air pop is great though, always the most consistent.

Jiffy Pop! Yeah they did end up burnt quite often but it is fun to watch the foil expand.

I've always use the tried and true Stir Crazy by west bend. Melts butter in the top, mixes oil in the base, and when it's popped, flip it over and BAM! It's a bowl!

(Although, kettle corn is damn good too, but I'm too lazy for that.) Air popping and microwave popping sucks!

That's what WE had. I don't remember ever doing butter on the top, though.

We had one like that except the sides were straight. I think my Dad still has it somewhere.

The butter has to start at room temp. YOu put 5 or 6 good sized chunks in the top of the lid and as it cooks, the butter melts and drips down into the popcorn.

When you're done, theres a lid that snaps on to the top so that you can flip it over and use it as a bowl.

It didn't work that well on our popper so we always melted the butter separately in a small saucepan.

Hmmm. Ours did not have a little rotating arm like that one. That's an UPGRADED model! :D

I don't have any Orville's here at work right now to take a look on the package, but according to my Weight Watchers PointFinder and the information in my Book - the point count is 1 point per cup. I usually share my p'corn and end up eating about 3 cups myself.

Remember that Weight Watchers has a different way of calculating points - its not counting calories....its based on calories/fat and dietary fibre.

And hey! It must be working cuz I eat popcorn like a MoFo and I've lost almost 70 pounds! :p

So don't rain on my parade! :flipoff2:

Joe and I had this disscussion a week or so ago at the store. He was telling me I should just get kernels and pop them myself instead of the microwave popcorn. My reply: "Um, who are you talking to here? the chick named Crash that almost blows herself up on a regular basis???" We got the microwave popcorn :flipoff2:

You can use your stir crazy to make kettle corn! Just add approx. 3 tablespoons of sugar to the oil. The top might burn a little, but it's not alot. Add sugar afterwards and then let it sit for a few, cause it's really hot!
