well the c6 in my ford is acting funny to me. when cold(morning starts) or sitting at a long red light once i take my foot off the brake it should creep forward like normal autos(it use to do this) but eh past couple days it just sits there till i hit the gas, it drives normal from there and shifts fine through the gears and if i come to a stop sign and stop and then go again, it does creep forward and works normally, just when sitting for a bit. also it doesnt do it in reverse, only teh forward gears. i checked the fluid and its filled up to where it should be. any ideas? im not an auto guy. oh yeah in the morning starts when its idling high for the cold idle when i shift into drive it shoudl take off on me but it just sits there till i hit the gas and it seems like it has some drag cuz when i let off the gas is stops. but like i said after its been moving it works till a long red light or parked for a bit. please help! THANKS jiMMy

Other then getting the rebuild kit for $120, you can try the servo. The c6 likes to collect grim in the servo, and then starts to stick. You hit the gas and line pressure go up enough to move it. Just remove the 4 bolts remove servo and spring, and clean it up. If it dosen't work your only out 15 min of time.

is it bad to drive it liek that, i have no tools here and its raining, if i take it out i assume fluid goes everywhere? and why in forward gears only though(as far as i know) jiMMy

Won't hurt it as long as it is not slipping after it ingages. The c6 only has one band and servo. Rev is controled by the extra set of clutchs in the rear of the case. You can try to adjust the band, but I doubt that is the problem.
If you were closer I could rebuild it for ya for $225.:D

the problem you're having is very common on ford c4's and c6's. i would assume that it's been a long time since the trans has been rebuilt; if ever. in the trans are a number of "sealing rings". these are teflon or nylon. after a number of years these rings wear just like piston rings do and the you get a bad seal. when your trans is cold the fluid gets by the sealing rings, not allowing enough pressure to build up to engage the forward clutch. you can drive the vehicle with that problem as long as you let it warm up really good first. once the rings get warm they expand just enough to seal again and the trans will go in gear.
ultimatly you'll have to rebuild the unit to cure this problem. let me know if you need parts; i work for a trans parts distributor.

hmm, that sounds like what is going on, but tonight after work i started it up and didnt let it warm up at all and it drove perfectly fine and normal. so i am stumped, the guy i bought it from said the trany was rebuilt 40k ago, so im gonna change the fluid and filter and go from there, thanks though, ill pm ya if i do need some stuff! jiMMy
