: Ideas for clocking a 205?

It is a 6 bolt round patern so I think I can just bolt it up wrong(the way I want it).

Its going in an 85 k5, so I got that "W" cross member. I was hoping I can get the fron d-shaft to go under the cross member. Hopfully right in the middle where at the high point of the the "W".

I know this greatly decreases clearance but she is mostly mud and sand. Also if this work I can get rid of that CV and loose the front shims cause my steeering is a PITA.

Any reasons why this wouldnt work as long as there is enough clearance?

Well... there 6 holes, so clocking one notch is 60* rotation. The t-case doesn't hang any lower than 45* at most (probably less), so the t-case will be pointing up past horizontal once you're done.

Might need to chop up your floor a little :D

3" of body lift makes for good clearance. I am confused as to what your talking about though. I am trying to rotate the thing down. I think 60* would be about right to get the front output directly below the rear output.

Re-clocking it 60 degrees could be trouble.

The front output is more or less centered with the pinion yoke on the front axle. When you rotate the case 60 degrees (in either direction) you change the centerline of the front output compared to the front pinion yoke. A slight variance is not a problem (even from the factory they aren't "perfect"), but too much and you are asking the u-joint to perform at compound angles (NOT GOOD). Yes you will be aleviating the shaft angle, but by adding the lateral angle, you might cause more problems than it's worth.

This is theory as I have NOT done this (for reasons stated above). You may want to ask somebody who has attempted this.

I would also call Jesse at www.highangledriveline.com and see what his thoughts are. He knows his shit when it comes to drivelines and angles. He will probably give you a few options as to what you can do to your rig as far as drivelines are concerned.

What do you know Charlo the "Ask Jesse" pops up again for ya--LOL. If I was you I would skip all this and switch over to a divorced 205 x-case and run a 2WD tranny. I did it on my big 93 x-cab and it solved my d-angles with 18 in. of lift on 44's. I used a 200 x-case from a kaiser center mounted and clocked in mine because I had one "laying around". It turned out great and never had any problems.....think this would be your best option....:D

Someone I think in the North Carolina area makes a clocking plate for a 205. I think I've read about it here before (Either Chevy or General forum). Seems like it was about $400~$500.

Currently 700r4/208. A th400 goes in with the 205 shortly after I get my rat installed :D

ok, you can't clock with a th400.. the holes don't line up.. it'd take a custom adapter.. unless somehow you can spin that 205 on the plate which i doubt..
