I was looking for a TH400 for my rig and I was under the impression that TH400's were all 32 spline outputs,,,, but I found one with a 27 spline, same like a TH350. Can anybody enlighten me on this???

Probably an aftermarket tailshaft. B&M sold a kit to put a TH400 in place of a 700r. Have also seen the kits for putting a 400 in place of the TH350. I think Adv. Adaptors sell a different tailshaft, too.

2WD short output car or truck trans, not usually found with a HD or K case trans unless it was built by a shop that way

It's a fair sized motor, 421 sbc used for rocks(mostly), mud and hill climbs. It may be an OK trans for this(?). I was thinking,,,,,,,,I have a 203 that will bolt to this trans(27spline) and fit between it and the atlas, giving me a higher low ranger if I needed it then just the 4.3 in the atlas.

you will need to swap in the 4wd ouput shaft then
