Just wondering if anyone out there has swaped a wagoneer front 44 into a tj. Except for welding on the spring mounts what all has to be done? is it a good swap? I did a search and didn't find anything about the tj just the cj and yj. Thanks for the help

havent done it.. but have downed many a over it..
you'd need a 80+ wagoneer front axle.. then you could plasma cut off your brackets.. done neetly enough you could reuse them.. the hard one is the one off the top of the pumkin.. for that you could just sorta.. shave the top of your d30.. kinda sclap it.. and then weld all of it onto the top of your d44..
it can be done.. tons o work... but that is kinda how i would go about it.. course.. i would need a tj first..

Doing one this winter. I am using new brakets. Maybe from RE or my own custom, not positive yet. I have a TJ 30 loose to make a jig so that all of my brakets will be in the right place. My axle is from a 85.

thank you for the info. why does it have to be 80 or newer, what is the difference between the 79 and 80?

79 and older the differential housing is on the passenger side.. vise the drivers side.. like a tj's.. in 1980 they went to a drivers side drop..
so look for a 1980-1991.. fullsize wagoneer/grand wagoneer....

I found one for $200 that has the diff on the drivers side, not sure what year it is. the width looks like it is the same as my stock dana 30 or really close. can you change the lugs to 5 on 5.5 if not the 6 will be fine also.

I belive it can be 5 on 5 but I will make mine six lug on my YJ and get Moser shafts for the rear to match the front it cheaper in my opinion..

2XTRM4U is planning on doing one of those this winter. So maybe he's got some info. 200 sounds like a pretty good price.

Just a thought....Why not use an early Bronco D44 with radius arms and just fab a radius arm mount, now making it a three link(with trac bar)???

On mine I am using Chevy knukles to go Hi steer and ford hubs rotors and lockouts. This will give me a Hi-steered, manual locked 5 on 5.5 front with large .5ton ford rotors. That will match my 44 rear once I redrill the 5 on 5.5 pattern. Or full float the rear but I doubt I will spend that cash.

Search for Hi-steer and the info will come up a thousand times with some in great detail.
