Here's the deal: Lookin at a 5 on 5.5 D44 rear, but don' thave the green right now to swap out the front D30 too. I'm gonna put some TJ Shafts in the D30 front to get the 297x and get rid of the bag-o-crap vacuum disco.

So, to get the matching lug pattern, I figured the CJ outers would work. Also, they have hubs (and I can get some warn premiums) that would allow the front full shafts to get disconnected.

DO the CJ outers fit on the YJ knuckles? What about the steering stuff?

I know I shouldn't be spending any time/money on the D30, but it's a cheap solution to 260x and vacuum disco.

So, would this work?????

i have thought of using a high pinion xj axle and welding scout d-44 knuckles on the end because it appears yo me that tj's and yj's have much larger knuckles than any d-44 or cj d-30. i dont think it would be too bad to weld the inner knuckle from a cj on the yj axle and go with plan "A" though..

No. Not unless you also swap out the inner knuckles too.

So, let's just pretend that I had the inner knuckles welded on on too...

THEN would it work?

Would the steering line up?

Would the 297x of the TJ fit in the alotted space?

Would the outer shafts from the TJ work with the outer hub assembly of the CJ (what is the name for the whole outer assembly?)

Are the brakes the same size?

if you put the inner and outer knuckles off a CJ on you could use the CJ stuff. You would most likely have to get outer axle shafts out of a scout or from Superior Axle to work with the CJ stuff and the 297 joint. Good luck, seems worth while those reverse rotation front ends seem to hold up pretty well
