So the bearings on my 35 in my 99 TJ went out and instead or rebuilding it (duh), I have decided on swapping in a rebuilt 44 from a 2000 TJ. What are my concerns if any. I will need to swap control arms and brakes onto the 44. Are they the same as the 35?
Any other issues, or is it a "bolt in" ?
Thanks

Bolt in....
Don't forget to make sure your gear ratios match. Sounds like a dumb point, but it's easy to overlook the obvious sometimes :flipoff2:

Yep, already matched them up as 3.73's
Thanks for the response

I've heard that the driveshafts are at different lengths between D35's and D44. Might want to check into that if you have a stock rig.
dana 44 takes shorter DS in stock form

The pinion on the D44 is going to be about an inch longer or so than the D35, but it might not be an issue. Other than that it will bolt up.

if you have a SYE hence cv shaft all should bolt up, but if you still have the stock shaft, you may have issues with the shaft hanging on at the tip of the slip yoke
mind if i ask what you managed to pick the D44 up for?

straight swap :)
When mine finally broke (Dana35) I swapped in a used Dana44 from a '00 TJ and that made up for the flat skid (for the length of cv driveshaft) :)
