Help me out here guys. :D
Im doing an axle swap in my TJ finally and I have found a pair of Scout 44's and a pair of Waggy 44's. I'm not finding much to really sway me one way or another. What do you guys think, which should I use?
Pros and Cons of each please.
Thanks
Josh
Scouts have a passenger side pumpkin on the front axle which is opposite of your TJ. That narrows down the front for you. Any '80-91 Grand Waggie has the drivers side drop. Beware of '83-84's though. They have a vacuum disconnect in the pumpkin and it is basically worthless. To get a 44 rear look at '87-91 Waggies. From '80-86 they used the full size version of the AMC model 20, which is a good axle. For more info try out the search button as this subject has been beat to death here.

Waggy all the way. The scout outers are basically dana 30 with a 297x u-joint. They have external bolt hubs and crappy knuckles. Waggy is a much better choice, you can run a Scout rear with a waggy front. Its easy to swap 5 lug rotors on a waggy front.

If I don't end up with this 14 bolt rear Im looking into, I'll end up running 44's front and rear.. preferably from a waggie.. better design than the scout IMHO, and just the right width...

Hell, if you go with Waggys front and rear just stick with the 6-bolt pattern and save some cash. You're going to need to buy wheels anyhow... since you got a TJ and all.

Interesting - I guess TJs don't have to worry about caster, and cmegoup is right about the chunks unless you want to run a D300...
