Im looking for an idea or a pic of a simple home brew axle jig for positioning the brackets. I have a few ideas. I just want to make sure I am on the right track here.

thx

I've always used a ruler and a angle finder.
If you come up with a cheap better way by all
means let me in on it!

I don't have a picture, but if you make a table or stand set the axle in whatever you are using to hold it slightly elevated from the table on some cut down springs to locate the spring cups. Make sure it is centered propely. Weld those to the table. Then use old control arms to locate the brackets and trac bar and weld those to the table.

I was thinkin about setting up a piece of plate with two "Y" pieces rising from it to set the axle in. Take your current factory axle and set in there. Then come up with other risers that attach to all the brackets (at the proper angels) via bolts. Once you have every thing attached to the factory axle unbolt it and put your other one in there. The new brackets have no choice but to line up. The only thing that concerns me is the axle tube diameter throwing things off a bit.. ;)

Yeah it will, the difference in tube size from a 35 to a 60 is significant. Are you making your own brackets too? Most of the bracket kits are designed for a 44, so if you are using a different diameter tube you will have to machine them to fit your tubes. If your making your own, I'd do them like Wagoner does move them up on top.

The guy that did this write-up from madxj built a jig for his front 44

If you're using stock brackets and locations,I'd think you could just raise the UCA mounting points on the jig to match the axle tube size change

Here is my franken jig. I made the jigs around the stock front and rear diffs. Problem that I had was then getting the frickin diff off the jig since it was made to tight. Worked like a champ in the end and became a real no-brianed job. Also but out metal to compensate for the difference in tube diameters.
