I've been looking into the VW TDI lately. I know Doug's Axis kit is gone (no great loss) and nobody has done the trackick to VW yet.

Has anyone just taken the Volvo diesel bell housing and tranny (4spd w electric OD) and seen if it would fit? (Volvos used cast iron block 5 and 6 cyl VW diesel engines, usefull for boat anchors)

Maybe adapt the volvo bellhousing to the trackick tranny. Does the 2wd have a removable bell housing too? We never had 2wd trackicks in Canada, at least not officially.

Any thoughts? No, I don't want to put a big #$^king Toyota Diesel in there.

That's an interesting thought, but Volvo diesels aren't exactly plentiful here in the states.

If you want any easy diesel conversion look at the isuzu imark cars the motor and transmission will fit pretty easy.

OK guys, this is gonna trip yer trigger:

I was on the phone with Marlin (of Marlin Crawler) the other day, and he mentioned that some Isuzu's used an Aisin 5 speed & that he's put DUAL TOY CASES behind them before! Imagine if you could mate one of those 5 speeds behind the diesel & have 200:1 C.R. MMmmmmmmm ---- BEEFY.:smokin:

Izuzu's

1st: What is an Imark? I'm not familiar with their cars, we get a little one here I believe is the same as the Asuna Sunfire (not the pontiac, maybe a canada only thing), troopers and trucks.

2nd: I have heard the story about the Izuzu trannys but that the input shaft and clutch are a bit different? I'd bet there are 2 volvo diesels for every Izuzu diesel up here, and ya definatly don't see a volvo diesel every month.

I just thought that a transmission from a Bombardier/VW Itilis would probably bolt up too. Granny 1st gear. Rarer still.

The Imark was the model of the car do not if they were available in canada. The truck may work have never tried it. The Isuzu motors are very short would like to try one from an amigo that has fuel injection .

never got the imark in .ca

make an adapter flange between the engine and the sideflip engine or maybe between the bellhousing of the volvo and the trackick tranny
