Get a strong leader, and the nation thrives... despite those who would profit and benefit from the alternative..

i don't think it is because of the war that it makes the market go up.

it is because they uncertaintey (ie are we fighting or not), has been eliminated.

now folks can invest with more confidance because a lot of variables are eliminated.

if we did not war and it was anounced (that we weren't,) eliminating the wonder, then the market would have rose.

edit---same results either way.

It is also because of the certainty that we will prevail, since Iraq isn't fighting worth a shit.

I don't think so. Not going to war now would have eliminated short term uncertainty, but we would still have hanging over our heads the uncertainty of an evil dictator intent on developing WMD to use against us. I think the certainty that Saddam will not be able to take that course of action is what is spurring investors.

we had that uncertainty during the 90's after we left. it just hasn't been put in the public eye by our news media or government. he's always been there.

i personaly think that we should have not stopped in desert storm until we had his farking head on a stick. but it didn't happen.

i guess the point i'm trying to say is that just being in a war does not mean that the stock market will go up. i think it is directley related to the war effort. but only because a function of the war effort creates that uncertainty state of mind in the genral trading population in which could have been created in other ways.

i just don't think folks should think that the war is only for an economy boost. i urghes me to hear that comment. it makes as much sense as the "it's only for oil" comment or maybe the sign i saw yesterday , (that was upside down) that read "50% of urakies are children" now how in the hell do they expect me to believe that number and second that is more reson (if you truley care for the kids) to get that fawker out of power and free the kids.

I bet some of them are that stupid BECAUSE of college.

College campuses across this nation are the fertile breeding ground for the misinformed, mislead, immoral, unpatriotic, anti-American, self-righteous, politically-correct, assinine fool MAGGOTS that currently plague this country like genetic hybrid of termites and cancer.

unfortunatly, I would agree with you - but only on a few colleges. The vast majority of them don't fall into that category.
