: shackel angle

Hey newbie here, I am mocking up my front bumper now and will be using 5"x2" rectangular tubing for the main bar. I am a sprung under CJ7 with a 4.5" R.E.
It looks like if I go flat against the end of my frame horns with the tubing (and aprox. level with the top of the frame) there could be a clearance problem with the shackel coming up against the bottom of the bumper at full stuff.
I am all torn apart right now with 8 foot ceilings so dont ask me to flex it my self
:D
But I would like to continue. I am thinking I need to set the bumper 1.5" off the front of the frame. Which would help me if I ever went to a different spring/shackle mount/ reversal....whatever setup?
Any advice here? Hey thanks, Woodeye

OK, if the shackle is 90 degree to the floor(relaxed)......how many degrees at full compression. C'mon just guess!:flipoff2:

no more than 45 deg compressed or it'll invert ;) so yeah.. 45 is your max,

I agree, or dont mount the 5x2 flush with the top.

If I was going to mount the tube higher than the top of the frame...and considering I would run a winch on top of the front crossmember...(someday) what would an ideal height above be? If any? I know this is pretty vague but either way the decision is made tommorrow.
I dont have a winch yet or money for one and dont want to get the bumper to high. If thats possible. Thanks, Woodeye
