: BLM Meeting re: South Fork and Jergens area
Dan-H 11-13-2001, 10:11 AM This public BLM planning meeting is to define/discuss/debate the parcel where Jergens is located. The meeting is this thursay, November 15th at 6:30pm in Coloma at the Odd fellows hall.
I expect there will be over 100 attending that want this area closed to Motor vehicles.
This is Public land for public use and if we want to continue using it, we need to voice our input.
every voice at this meeting will count.
Will you be there?

BigDan's Girl 11-13-2001, 02:17 PM Dan and I will be there again on Thursday, and I think Rob will be able to make it as well. I had written a really nice letter that was distributed three meetings back. I guess I should get it posted somewhere on our Website tonight. These landowners are against the kids who are drinking and partying at all hours of the night... and those shooting guns out there... and building campfires... We all need them to see that it's not the wheelers they're against, but the stupid people with NO RESPECT for the Environment.
I'll have the letter posted tonight on our site.

I'll be the Ugly one with the scrappy looking beard
If you enjoy the out of door at all, you NEED to attend this meeting.
NO EXCUSES
Dan-H 11-13-2001, 08:28 PM Come on gang,
43 views, and two responses?
I sure hope there will be more people there than Dan, Audra, Dennis and me.
Hell, I know randii, and rusty will be there, and prolly Brandon and some of the pirates, but we need serious numbers.
The meetings are basically being run by "consensus"
if there are not enough dissenting votes (counted by a show of hands) then this will get closed.
Be there. I'll buy a couple of pitchers after the meeting.
Lance 11-13-2001, 08:33 PM I will be there, and so will a few others (por). See ya there.
randii 11-13-2001, 11:28 PM I'll be there -- I've been attending for a year, do I get a cookie? :p
We'll do the slideshow this time around, I think...

I'll be at the meetings as long as I can (I am out of town a lot) but I will be there with the wife and littlun of course :)
And yep, pizza afterward - but that poor shop gets slammed, would be nice to get a headcount for who is going there to let em know..
Dan-H 11-15-2001, 01:23 PM What pizza place???
I sure hope I don't see folks at the pizza place that didn't bother to make the meeting:rolleyes:
Rover Addiction 11-15-2001, 01:24 PM I'll be there. Bringing a friend or two to vote our way as well!
:D
Anybody from Fairfield/Vacaville area want a ride up?
randii 11-15-2001, 01:45 PM ...and there's no sense in showing up at the meeting if you're just gonna stand around outside. I hear that this happened when I was in Vegas, and last meeting, folks were STILL talking about the 'uppity four-wheelers who wouldn't come in.' That's a case -- like showing up and screaming your fool head off -- where just being present may not be good enough.
Remember that this is a year (plus) long planning program, and most of you are joining in at the very end... don't show up if you can't commit to making at least a few repeat appearances. We may be able to influence the process if we attend regularly, and impress the other regulars with our own individual reasoning and general good behavior.
If you want to prepare a bit for the encounter, here's a doc I wrote about a month ago.
http://www.4x4wire.com/isuzu/randii/Jurgens/Jergens_Speaking_Points.doc
It breaks down some of the discussions I've had with the land owners and other folks who have been regularly attending the meetings for the past year.
BLM said that I can run the slide show on the trail and its usage -- so 'wheelers will get a very public say there at this meeting. It would be great to have support in the crowd. I don't need you rooting for me (though I will sign any bosoms proffered to me at the end of the show :p), but what would really help would be if 'wheelers got there early and SPREAD OUT through the chairs. Don't clump up together... spread out and talk with people. Show them that we're not a bunch of drunk, hootin'-and-hollerin' yahoos...
The slides I show will generate discussion. Step up and join those discussions, maybe reference the talking points outlined in the above link. Above all, be reasonable, and try to show the other folks there that 'wheelers can be responsible stewards of the land.
