Question for everyone. On my 79 the slave cyinder is located on the pasenger side. When changing to the sm420 i need to change to a gm car bell housing. This switch's the slave to the drivers side. Is there a thread out there that covered this? I checked woody's and didn't find anything. Who's done this ???I saw in petersens they used Cj 4cylinder external but I would hate to put heep parts on when I have a good slave and a back up. Fab a bracket and away we go? Hose lenght problem? Thanks :usa:

I bought a bracket that bolted to the chevy bell housing and positioned the slave cylinder in the proper place for the sm420. Got the bracket at Wardens. I'm not sure if it was an Advanced Adaptor product or not. Pretty simple, pretty cheap. :fj:

Oh yeah, the hose length. The clutch line goes along the firewall to the passenger side- so I bought a shorter pre-flared metric clutch line that I bent into place, and was in business. I didn't have a tube flaring tool, so I just got the new line and bent it.
hope that helps. :fj:

It is very eaasy to fabricate a simple bracket that mounts the LC slave cylinder to the GM bellhousing. One I made is show below. It is just a 3/16 mild steel plate cut and bent to position the slave cylinder. It doesn't have to be fancy and can be made with the help of a sawzall, vise and torch.

I've the slave cyl. bracket that Warden sells also. Altough I haven't got my drivetrain in yet I got to looking at one in another cruiser in his shop and noticed that it placed the slave cyl. upside down (bleeder on the bottom). Don't really think that it would be that big of a deal but it looks like a poor design to me! :smokin:

The bleeder on the bottom can make a bleeding procedure near impossable...
Couple of students at the local Voc. School put the rear Slaves in a car wrong a few years ago and 3 days later they figured out why thet couldn't get a firm pedal after bleeding the brakes...
I know this cuz they were former students of mine and they told me cuz they know I love to share stories like this in class.

Is the wardens bracket locating the slave upside down or do you have a ability to flip it? If not, bench bleed then install?
Also did anyone have to shorten the lenght of the slave cylinder shaft. Would you cut it on the non threaded end and re-shape? Any other considerations to match up proper throw for 350/centerforce dual/sm420 lc.slave for best clamping?
Thanks for the input.:skull:

Tom, I think the length of the shaft will be determined by the placement of the bracket. I think we can fab up something simular to the above pic. If the shaft needs to be shortened it will come off the end that goes into the clutch fork.
