The fuel pump I got for my Vortec swap is a Mallory 60psi pump. I spoke to Mallory about it and they said that it is a gravity type pump and needs to be mounted as low or lower than the pickup in the tank. In his words, if you don't, the pump "will make metal". Now, it doesn't take a genius to note that there are not many safe places on a Jeep below the pickup. So, I was thinking ...What about using a high volume suction-type pump on top of the tank and have it prime the Mallory pump, placing it wherever the hell I want it. I believe I have heard of people doing this. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge regarding this?

The primer will work. I didn't put one on my jeep with the Holley injection and it seems to be working ok. I haave a little problem when the tank is almost empty.
