35's? that's what i've got now: 35x15.5 SX's and i'm already SOA. my problem is. i know i'll wanna go bigger, like 38's, later but is the 4" gonna be to big for right now. w/ my last set of 35's, i rubbed w/ just the SOA. i am also upgrading axles, so that will add at least, too. if anybody has done this, got pic's?

thanks- russel

hell that should be plenty of lift. you will need to sawzall anyways to fit the 38's. they will definately fit.

yeah i figured it would be plenty of lift for 38's, but to much for 35's? i kind of just wanted to see some pics for comparison. -russel

I ran 35's SOA with 4 inch springs. It was kinda cool, but there were HUGE gaps in my fender wells...worked fine though My 38's fit perfect now.

38.5's SOA and 4" CJ rear springs all around.

Works good.

Did you reposition the hangers to do that?

Yes, moved the rear of the front forward 3" and the front forward 2" with stock length shackles.

Rock Taxi!

That is sweet dude! Did you put a CJ6 frame under that? or did you stretch it?

Way cool!

Thanks! I am kinda proud of it, and have had a ton of fun building it.

I took a 78 CJ5 and cut it in half. Then I added 20" to the middle of the frame and tub and relocated the front axle forward.

Now I am building a 3 link coil suspension on the front and will be ditching the leaf springs.

I bet you had fun building it! I just bought a 76 CJ5, and I've got my eye on a CJ6 frame that a guy is selling for 100 bucks. I haven't decided whether or not to get it yet, but I'm thinking about it.

The only reason is because I'm 6'5" and I would like a little more "leg" room and I was considering either stretching the frame, or buying the 6 frame.

Don't know

hey Yellow Taxi- you think you'll wanna sell the lift springs when your done? i'm in the middle of my motor build up (efi 302) and i won't be working on the suspenion until next summer for sure.

also, what shocks are you guys running for so much lift? yeah, yeah, i know the bracket or relocated w/ the SOA, but still, that adds extra droop.

thanks for the replies- russel

Do a search for QBert... He's got a YJ with the same setup that you are interested in.

I saw QBerts YJ and chose to go the same path with my CJ. WIth the SOA and 4" springs and 2" body lift, I have about 14" clearance between the fender and tire.
