Some Ram's have dana 44's up front, and since the ram's uses basicly the same front suspension as a TJ, wouldn't it be a fairly easy swap?? I know the spring pads would be a little big, but wouldn't the control arm mounts be similar??
Just thihkin out loud....

That might work but the biggest prob u would run into is the disconect in the axle...pluss the shaft aren't especially strong around the ears.

Well, you could but it has the 297 u-joints so it would be just as strong(basically) as the newer D30s. The ears might be a little stronger and survive a u-joint blow, but why waste the time.....Mogs mogs mogs <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Go 60 or Go home. I'm going to wheel the heck out of my D30 until I have enough saved to buy a D60.
mac 'D44 not really worth the time' gyvr

60 is not really an option. I'm only runnin 33's right now, and maybe 35's in the future, I don't want to lose the clearance with a 60, plus I have no plans of swapping the 44 rear. A 60 up front and a 44 in the rear would be a litle silly. I know the use the same u-joints, but I have seen broken shafts, blown spiders, and blown R&P with the 30, a 44 would be much stronger in these areas not to mention I could easily run 4.88's.
