here's the ? has anyone ever attempted putting a jeep truck t18 main into a ford t18? i am asking b/c i really don't want to have to buy the AA kit for my ford t18 (going into my cj) in order to bolt up the jee d20 transfercase. the jeep t18 is from a '76, but i'm not sure about the ford.

why swap them at all? the bolt patterns should be the same at the front. If some next level sh!t is going on then yea the jeep shaft will happily go into the t-18....all the cases should have been the same, and as long as they were both wide ratio I can't see any reason for a difference. There were 13 or 14 different 18's created...long and short snout, input out put, wide, close ratio, but the case remained the same as far as I know.

do you already have teh Jeep T18 mainshaft?

Do you have the complete Jeep T-18? If so, I would put the Ford input shaft in that. It's a lot easier to swap the input shaft than the output shaft, and the Jeep case will already be drilled for the adapter. Also, this may not be a consideration, but the PTO port on the Ford case is on the worng side and would would interfere with the front driveshaft it you use a PTO.

Otherwise, the output shaft should swap just fine as long as it's really a T-18 shaft and not a T-98 shaft.

yeah, i do have both trannies. and i thik GRANDPA understands exactly what i want. i need to swap them b/c i'm putting a 5.0 in my cj and i want to back it w/ a t18 and since i already have two of them to work w/, i don't want to spend $500 on an adapter for the jeep d20 transfer case i'm going to use. my problem is: the ford t18 will bolt to the motor but not to the transfer case and visa-versa w/ the jeep t18. so, i was hoping i could combine them to get what i need. thanks a lot again guys-russel
