I've been noticing as I watch CNN that they always refer to the President as "Mr. Bush"

Aren't they supposed to call him "President Bush"

Actually it's supposed to be Mr. President or President Bush.
What confused me was when a CNN reporter was interviewing Dan Quayle the other day and he kept calling him Mr. Vice President.

I would think that too. It should be President in the title. When it was clinton I got a laugh outta them leaving out the tittle, now I think it's deserved.

CNN has been calling President Bush "Mr. Bush" ever since
he's been in office. It's no secret that CNN doesn't like him.

For me, I've been taught since bootcamp that the proper way is "The Honorable Mr. Bush" or "The Honorable Mr Cheney", all the way down the line to Senator's and Congressmen.

I don't think the news media need to do that, but when referring to the President, I believe that they should afford the office of the President the respect it deserves whether or not they like the man that's in the office, meaning referring to him as either Mr. President, the President, or President Bush.

Which, if I remember correctly, they are not supposed to do. I read (somewhere - hearsay, making this up, whatever.. :flipoff2: ) that FORMER presidents are to be addressed with the title of their previously held public office. In Dubya's case, that would be "governer" upon his exit of the white house.

Any truth to this or am I full of shiznit?

That's right. It's been that way since day one, and it was rather conspicuous then. I'm surprised people are noticing now.

NBC and ABC do the same thing, consistently.

Rob, someone on here, I don't remember who, did notice that
CNN wasn't calling him President Bush and posted about it.
Some of the other networks, as you pointed out started following
CNN's example. IMO it's very disrespectful and obviously biased.

My wife didn't vote for 'Mr Bush', and she got mad about it. IMO it's creating sympathy, and it definitely exposed media bias.
