My exaust manifold just fell off <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
I had a crack there before,but 15 min ago it just fell off. Now my Jeep sounds like a damn tractor
Can I weld it back together or I have to replace it? If replacement is in order, than what brands should I consider?

No, the recall was on the 4 banger manifold bolts.

It's warrantied. Fed warranty on emissions is 7 years, 70k miles.

My dealer pretty much told me to go fawk myself cause of lift and 33's. I think I gotta go with Borla.

Sounds like you need to remind that dealer that that's not the way it works. DC doesn't decide that's replaced - the Feds do.

I just had the PCM in my TJ replaced under warranty. I have 55k miles and I've had it over 5 years. They didn't say anything about the 38" SXs effecting the warranty.... <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

According to D/C, if the defect was caused by the modification..it's your problem....But...if the lift did not cause the broken manifold than they should cover it!! So make sure nothin you did caused it---Anything hittin exhaust or did something hit it or stress it??

Fawk that dealer! As 1BDYJ said, if your modifications did not effect the part that broke they are liable! Bring it to another nearby dealer to possibly make your life easier, if he denies you...FIGHT!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 7year/70kmile was California (and perhaps a couple of other states), and the federal warranty was 3/36.

But regardless its a 99 should be within 3 years.

It is also the dealers responsibilty, not the consumers, to prove the modification caused the failure.

Quote the MOSS-Magnusson Act. It states that the modifications MUST HAVE CAUSED the problem and if there is doubt it is up to the MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE to prove it.

If that doesn't work at the dealership, pick up the phone and call 1-800-992-1997 (yes, I have it memorized). Tell them your problem and **at no time be rude**. That is very important.

Yep they should cover that. But if you do get a new manifold go Borla, They sound and work great! Its worth it if your keeping your jeep for a while.

This may have changed since 99, but according to my 2001 warranty book:

Federal emission warranty, 2 years/24,000 miles. Daimler/Chry covers all of these parts under the basic limited warranty for 3/36 including:
air system controls, dist, efi sys inc injector, evap canister, EXHAUST MANIFOLD, EGR, exhaust pipes (between manifold and cat) fuel cap, tank, pump, fuel lines, ignition coil and module, intake, OBD, oxy sensors, PCV, secondary ignition wires, spark plugs, throttle body, tranny control module, vacuum hoses, clamps, fittings tubing, vacuum, temp, altitude, speed, timing sensors, valves, sensors and switches used in these systems.

Parts covered for 8/80
Cat converter, PCM

California 7/70 includes cat/mini cat, engine intake, exhaust manafold, pcm, throttle body (2.5L)
