: Inactive Reserves Called

A guy I served with has been called back to the Marine Corps. He had 6 months left of his 4 year inactive reserve commitment. I heard some were called back in GW I. I'm not sure if it's just standard proceedure, or if Uncle Sam has some other "business" in mind.

For those that don't know, most active duty military are required to serve a certain amount of inactive time at the end of their active duty service. For most Marines, it's standard to serve 4 years active, and 4 years inactive for a 8 year total commitment.

While in the inactive reserves you are not held to any standards. You don't get paid. You are only required to keep your uniforms and check in once a year. In my case, I checked in the first year, and never heard from uncle sam again until he mailed me my discharge.

The significance of this is.....after the inactive reserves have been called, next in line is YOU!

I hit my 4 year mark on Feb 19th, that was my point of no return. I should consider myself lucky, I'm single with two kids.

5/11 1st MAR DIV. My uniforms are still downstairs next to my server. I've been out 5 years. Although, I wouldn't complain if they wanted me back.

I looked at it recently... wondering what it was as well. Thinking... before this war is over... it could be draft time. Why? all depends on how badly the relations with Russia breaks down IMO. Handled wrong.. I could see WWIII break out in a worst case scenario.

primary is 18-25, lottery style, starting with I believe 20 year olds, up to 25, then back down to 18 and 19. If they run out of people then, it goes up to age 34.

I'd go back if they called me..
I know my wife and kid would be taken care of... We have a VERY expansive family here locally.. We all live here.

Hopefully they'll call up my wife's sister's husband though. Maybe that fawking jarhead WONT come back from this war and then he wont be able to beat his wife up on a weekly basis anymore... Bastard. but what you gonna do when she keeps going back to him?

My brother in law is going back in voluntarily after 3 years being out. Course my sister enlisted the week before he "made that decision" but still ;) both report in the next couple months

they are not saying that. they are saying that anyone that has NOT fulfilled their 8 year committment can be called up, period. yes, it's true.

As of a week ago 235,000 US Troops, 45,000 British troops, 2,000 spanish troops and 200 from... arg.. Jordan?

I got a feeling though... that before it's over with the US will have a LOT more troops in there.
