I have an opportunity to get some YJ 2" procomp springs for my soa or use stock scout SAGGED severely. Should I use the YJ springs? I hear they ride stiffer than bob dole after his first blue pill (in a YJ). Any opinions? I guess they would ride well on a scout because of the greater weight than a YJ? It would make my soa easier because of the width of the spring perches already on the front and the rear wouldnt matter. So it would make things simpler but how will they perform? I am thinking I will go ahead but will like to hear other opinions :) :flipoff2:

Are you talking about an 80/800 or Scout II, I'll assume 77 Scout II. What motor is in the rig. I would estimate with an IH V8 the front end would weigh double that of a YJ. Take it from there.

itsa scout2 but its a 72. It has a 258, t-90, d20... VERY VERY soon to be a sbc350, sm465, np205... I was wondering about the motor after the swap but not before since heeps used the 258 and the 232 (kind of the same) So.. I thought about that then read how much a friggin 258 weighs!!!

YJ springs should be 2.5" wide. Are you planning on changing the mounts? At least if you do swap out the mounts and the springs suck, you can find all kinds of others that are 2.5" wide that might suit you better.

agreed. YJ's have good springs out there and I am planning on changing the mounts to let them fit properly. I just kind of feel bad putting heep parts in my scout :barf: but its one area I cant pass up.

I run 4" procomp YJ springs in the front of my 80. The ride and flex great. The 2" springs will probably work good, if anything they will be too soft. The rate on the procomp front 2" springs is 195 lbs/in and the rears are 188 lbs/in. The nice thing about setting it up for the YJ springs, is all the options you have if you don't like the springs you have. There are probably more options for the YJ's out there than anything else. CJ-7 rear springs will also fit the same mounts you build for YJ springs. Wagoneer front springs are also very close, just 2" longer.

Hey Scouter77 you finally gettin those axles on huh? I just got finished putting the 14 bolt under my Scout on sunday, man it is AWESOME!!!:D I used a set of sagged XLC rear springs and used 2x3 box tubing for the perches so kinda like a lift block and perch in one. I also made a set of 1 in. lift shackles for the rear. It sits pretty high, the T-handle is right about nose level.:p I opted not to screw with my rear mounts because its more work than I feel like doin right now. But 2.5 in. springs would be kinda nice:smokin: Oh yeah, where you gettin your brakelines made, called every place in the pjone book and no one will make a set for me.

no fawkin clue! I do need to find some though :( I have the $$$ To do everything else finally but complications keep popping up. I am thinking about swapping in the chevy motor before I go soa to solve my power steering pump bracket problems and it would give more power and strength and crawl. I also got the YJ springs sitting on the ground next to my scout now. I think we might have to have brakelines custom made at a speed shop, bad thing is cost on that! my brakes are probably different because they are manual and drum in front. I am not too sure. If you find anything out call me since I still dont have internet at my house. 882-5956

Hey bro, I found a plce to make some brakelines here. FST fab on 43rd ave and Jefferson can make them. A little pricey but you dont have to wait to long to have them made and then shippied and all that crap. Call Fly-n-Hi to find out there number. Dont remember it off hand.
