I was looking on the other thread and someone mentioned what they would like to do. I have always wanted to learn how to do glass blowing and take fencing (touche).

What about you?

A hobby is defined as something one finds pleasure in doing, correct? If that's the case how about porn!:D :grinpimp: :bounce:

Ohhh, I would love to learn fencing. I wouldn't even know where to look for a class like that though. I have so many other hobbies, that are so fawking expensive that it's ridiculous. I wish my horse weren't a gimp right now, I'm having riding withdrawls.

Make money for doing absolutely nothing. Like to learn to do that, and can start right away. :D

I'd like to start traveling, as a hobby. :bounce2:

I just found out we lived 1 hour away from the 1996 summer olympics whitewater course, and it's still active and kept-up. So got my blood boiling again. I have a Perception big-water boat I used in WA, but it's probalby brittle now, I'll get it sent back into be melted down to make new boats. :) (Yes, that's rather greenie.)

I can't even fit into my wetsuit, but I do have most of the rest of the outfit. I could probably be back into a decent play boat and gear for under $2k.

*edit* I want to get my blackbelt. I used to do a little martial arts with an enthusiast but not a formal 'master' or whatever, but I'd like to get back into it and get the belt. And maybe unlearn all the bad stuff he taught me. :D

So basically, finish what I started.

I just looked up fencing, and there are several places in CO springs that offer it, and it's not that expensive. Yeah! I think I'll try it this summer when I have no more daycare expenses! It might be a good workout too.

I am going to look it up too!! I am actually looking onto a glass blowing class right now, fencing will be on hold for a while. I will be sure to post my art if I ever get to take classes!

I mostly want to take fencing because I think it would be fun to run around like Tom and Jerry saying 'touche pussycat' (I hope someone knows what that means) :p I know, I am a dork! :p

I want to learn how to weld, and weld well. I'd also like to learn how to fabricate, but right now in life, living in a small apt. I have nowhere to do any of this kinda thing, so I guess I'll just stick to working and wheeling when I can.

I would also like to learn welding. It's a very handy skill to have if you're into wheelin'. I have a good collection of tools but I'd also like to expand into some shop equipment.

I need/want to rent a shop somewhere, for work and fun.

Then I wouldn't need any other hobbies - except for beerdrinking.:D

Sue, rock climbing isn't that expensive. The cost of a harness,
rope, shoes, and rack are about $500 - $600. I did a lot of climbing
in Joshua Tree Natl Park and most climbs there are only 1 pitch so
you don't need tons of equipment.

As individual items, not that expensive. However, while reviewing this thread I have realized that I want a lot of things...not to mention my ultimate goal of purchasing my own island in the carribean :) Yes, my own personal island, all mine. While I haven't nailed down a name, I am thinking of "Sue is the best...ever" or "Sue, ruler of all" I don't want to name it anything too egotistical or anything :flipoff2:
(while not a hobby, the purchasing island part is true though ;) )

Lets see, engine building, woodworking, restoring a mustang or 78-79 F-150 is something I'd like to do.
I'm already good at woodworking cause I'm good with my hands, but I don't have the enquipment.

My girlfriends brother in-law was a professional fencer and now he does a lot of movie work as extras and what not (Gladiator, HIghlander Endgame, etc.). My girlfriend has also done some fencing. It is really cool stuff.

She said to tell you to get a copy of "The Art and Science of Fencing" by Nick Evangelista and that will get you started on the right road. My problem is that when I'm standing sideways I'm still about as large a target as the average person would be face on... :D

Over the past few years I have begun traveling as one of my hobbies. While it can be expensive if you take one trip a year or every other year it is really a resonable hobby as compared to may others. Of course I travel a lot for work and can often slip a few personal days in on trips so that makes it more affordable. Some of the places I have been in the past year or so...

Cleveland, OH
Portland, OR
LA
Princeton, NJ
NYC, NY
Dallas, TX
Houston, TX
Louisville, KY
Philladephia, PA
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Atlanta, GA
Seattle, WA
Las Vegas, NV
Laughlin, NV
Phoenix, AZ
Chicago, IL

Of course a lot of these are not places I would generally choose to go but, it is really neat to see the rest of the country and there are cool things to see and do in every city. The girlfriend and myself are planning a trip to Italy around this time next year.

Another hobby that I'm looking into right now is machining.... talk about expensive tools...

Do you figure if you owned your own island that they would give you flak for growing a personal amount of :smokin: ? Doesn't seem like it.

Seriously, I don't think so, but I guess it depends on where you are I suppose. There are a bunch of islands out there to buy. I'd be more worried that it doesn't go underwater at high tide!! :p

I'll let you all know when I make my big buy (it will be a loooooooooong while, though :( )

Looking into racing sportbikes. There are quite a few classes on the west coast. Start small, like a R6 and eventually a litre bike-R1! Small by comparison ;) , I'm 6'2" and 220lbs, so it would be like a guy 5"9" and 165 getting on a 250, well, sort of...

Scuba has been a big one that has eluded me. When I was in Washington, I used to dive with a guy I worked with, but he wasn't an instructor, so he couldn't cert me. This guy was rec diving Nitrox and Tri-Mix in 1992, before any of the crap was really talked about openly. Then I took an official course here, and got everything but the open water dive done, but could never make the time to take a trip to Mexico, so now I would have to do it all over again.

The crappy part is, I have time under my belt, and know this stuff, but without that stupid little card, I can't get a tank fill!

I'd love to get a pilot's license, and eventually get a small plane some day. Metal casting is another hobby I've researched, but haven't really gotten into yet (other than collecting lots of scrap aluminum) My wife wants horses, which I think would be cool. We will probably get into gardening this spring now that we have a house.

My existing hobbys keep me too busy now, most of the above will probably have to wait a while.
