Well Some of you have read my posts on how I hate my wifes Dodge Truck. Anyway it is a 99 X-Cab 4 door 1500 4wd. It has 44k miles on it. The problem is besides the fact it is a p.o.s. the speedo only works when your are going 20-25mph or faster. Also the ABS light is on and so is the other brake light. I know the speedo is electric so what would I check? I think I am going to finally put some other axles with with a better ratio under the truck then spend the money and fix the speedo. Any ideas?

The 99's and up with 4wheel ABS the speedo is triggered by the ABS sensors. Sounds like you jsu tneed to get your ABS repaired.

The parking brake indicator can be caused by an out of adjustment plunger switch above the pedal or a bad rear brake component/system. That could also trigger your ABS light, and the resulting speedo problem.

Have you checked and adjusted the rear shoes?

Thanks for the info Jason. I will check the Sensor and the shoes soon. If they still look fine I am just going to replace the Axles and go from there. I did not know the Speedo Went off the ABS sensors that makes sense why they failed at the same time. Know anyone who wants a set of Stock axles with 3:55 gears?

Just FYI I replaced the ABS sensor located on the rear diff and now the speedo works and so do the ABS brakes. Thanks for the information. The cost on the part is about 30$ but I had one.

do you still have those axles lying around and if so how much for them?

I decided not to replace the axles in my wifes truck. So what I do have is some 01 Dodge axles with 4:11 gears and a track lock in the rear. I am asking 800$ they are on e-bay right now. If you want to just buy them without the auction let me know. Here is my for sale link with more details.

maybe i'm just sensitive or something but everyone is so quick to call their dodge a piece of shit when theres twice as many chevys or ford with shit falling off of them. if your only problem is lights on the dash, concider yourself lucky.:mad3:

Haha Well Thank God it is not my truck it is my wife's. This truck is on it's 3rd tranny and 2nd transfer case. It has no power and gets a wonderfull 10 m.p.g. No matter what. I drove my freinds 99 and his runs about 3 times as good as my wifes. My 98 Chevy had twice the miles and no problems and it had about 5 times more power. I just happen to hate this truck others seem to have better luck with thiers. Take it easy.
