I have soa with Calmini 3" lift springs and some 2" shackles. Tell ya the truth my rig is kinda stiff, although that's stiff for a sammy. I think it ramps some where in the 900's on 23*, but for me I value a balanced rig and with Locker it's all the same. Too me that is.:)

you're right, i believe about balance/moderation. (you ARE a moderator, after all...:D ) if my sammy was any rougher i would be too beat up on roads just getting to the trails, and as it is, i get seasick sometimes when going over gnarly terrain:D

Some of the best wheelers I've seen had simple rigs with moderate flex but fully got it cause of balance and driving skills. Seems like you see alot of folks make'n up for the lack of skills with good hardware. Who knows.

Here's a hint: http://www.coalcreekmining.com/ ;)

'Burner was tryin' to get me to come play with him over there this weekend. From what Chris is saying about breakin' shiznit... I'm glad I didn't go. I'm outta money for a couple of weeks until the check from the company that I did some web design stuff for sends a check, and my rig is my daily driver. Bad combo when you're taking on a trail that hardcore... so I had to pass.

As far as location (taken from this page (http://www.coalcreekmining.com/maptowindrock.htm) ): The main entrance to CCMMC's Land is from the town of Oliver Springs, Tennessee which is aproximately 30 miles west of Knoxville.

Chris... how'd the MT/Rs work for you on the rocks compared to the 32" SX's?

I'll try 'em a little lower than 10 psi eventually, but I needed all of the diff clearance I could get on the RattleRock trail! Those are some BIG ASS furkin' rocks!!!

They're pretty squishy @ 10 psi, I shouldn't need to go much lower. If they hooked up any better, I'd need to invest in DANA 60's!

CSR,
your pictures are up on the Coal Creek (http://www.coalcreekmining.com/Pictures/DirList.asp) site. Check out all the pictures of Rattle Rock and you can see a few different 'zukis playing on the rocks.

high5,
the Rattle Rock trail is off of trail #15 and heads up the hill to the intersection of P1 and G2. We are currently scouting more places for the 4x4s to play. We have identified at least two other locations but they are not mapped yet.

Coal Creek has 72,000 acres of land and lots of trails from mild to wild. If you can't find something that makes you smile, you must be dead.

I usually run mine at 11 PSI (no beadlocks) and have never wanted to go any lower than that (except for maybe on sand).

I think CSI was right... I DEFINITELY didn't have a traction problem on rock up at Turkey Bay... so why give up the diff clearance?

BUt i guess if I was out west on a big fat rock ile all day and didn't need to kepp my diffs up high to get through mud ruts, it might be different.

Richard, do you still have your Samurai? I'm building a Toy P'up now. It's got a little more lift and a flat bed that's almost finished since this pic....

Going with the retro,
this is what mine looked like in Nov 2001 (I bought in July 01 with intentions to build).
This was about 2 hours before the first roll over.
The body was scratch and dent free up to this point.
SPOA front locker only, still had the front sway bar hooked up.

My buddy was driving down off the hill on a service road, slid it sideways on a steep and loose section and rolled us hard.

Crushed the tub at the windshield frame, the frame, hood, and both doors.

Check out the VIDEO if you get bored:

go here, RIGHT click on file and then COPY to folder

then SAVE it to desktop

takes about 10 minutes to download so I hope you have high speed! For those that haven't seen it the video is worth the wait! It has lots of action and full sound.

If you have problems try again later or just bitch at me and I will E-mail it to you.

I do love Roys for jumping in the sand but
no, its the shale pit at Apple Valley Farms. (my dads place) We have hauled tons of shale out of there and its really fun now. I love those steep climbs. Were going to be out there on Feb 7and 8 for our winter event. Im pretty pumped to go play in all the fresh snow we just got.

That is one of thousands creeks that came from the Andes Mountains to the sea, that picture was taken a couple of miles from the sea side and dunes area.-

Here down are almost 600 pictures of same trail. The name of the place is Hentelauquen, Chile.-
