Aloha every one, well i finaly got the 258 to replace the tired 151. however i am trying to verify the build date. the dealership here is brain dead. The build date stamp # on the dist. side of the engine is 010009. now i think it is either a 79 or an 81. it does have the carter 2 bbl.
the block# is EF325444 with the letter code V under it on the manifold side. I need to rebuild this thing so any help would be apreaciated. thank you...pmrf71:confused:

That block casting code indicates an '81-85 block with the 7/16" head bolt holes. Can't tell you anything from the date stamp.

Thank you for the info. At lest now I should be able to buy the right parts...lol. I just finished removing the head. What a mess that was. The #6 piston/cyl was full of corrosion and the rest seem decent. I have it soaking in oil for now. If that does'nt work its piston mangeling time.lol I would rather replace the pistons than the block. Thanks alot again for the info. Wish me luck...LOL:)
