I picked up Billy off of the street (literally) a couple of years ago now. I can't stand seeing stray's (though, I can't save them all), so the wife and I decided to bring him home. We gave him that name since his colors are similar to the 'Big Mouth Billy Bass' singing fish thing, and he has a loud mouth just the same.
We have been trying to get him to get used to our two little girls (dogs), but he doesn't even get along with the other cat, let alone the two pups. No fighting, he just runs away scared. We have tried to make him comfortable, but his quality of life just isn't there because he is such a loner. He only comes around when he knows it is safe.
When it is safe out, he is a huge attention whore. Lovee rolling onto his back for belly rubs, will lay down with you, curl up, acts a lot like a dog would. But, he is most definitely an only animal home type.
We will not take him to a shelter, or give him up to the first person just to get rid of him. We are trying to find him a better life, for his benefit. So if you, or anyone you know is looking for a good companion that can give him the type of attention he requires, please let me know. He is relatively healthy, but not a youngin. My wife works at an animal hospital, so he has always had his shots, been fixed, always feed good food, and been taken in for check ups with the first sign of a problem (pretty easy to see signs, since anything unusual stands out with him, as compared to our other cat...).
He is a big furry Maine Coon. About 7 pounds if I remember right. His ear has been a little disfigured, probably from a fight out on the street. He also has a small chunk missing betwen his mouth and nose, just large enough to spit pills out when you are trying to give him meds, also assumed from being on the street.
If anyone has hints of where else I can list him for adoption, please let me know. I want to find him a good home.
