where do you comprimise on shackle length?? i have allpros's 4 inch springs on a toy 4runner front. i am very happy with the flex, but i need to get the tire off the firewall without too much trimming. i run a 1.5 inch longer than stock shackle now(5 incher), but would like to go another 2.5 inches further to get some more lift. seems to me shackle length can be too long for the swing of the spring and its ability to flatten out(lengthen)...??? i hope that explained what i was meaning...
how long is too long??
:D

well NoRulz has 10" shackles if that says anything for you. But his are at the highst point on chassis as he could get.

I don't know the rule if their is one but the 2 things to keep in mind are 1 it will blowout the bushings that much faster...big deal and 2 it will add more caster to your frontend and that might make it harder to turn the wheel not to mention how it might effect the way it drives. It might help the way it drives for all I know.

As long as your spring hangers are good and solid (sleeve through a fully boxed frame is best--Slickrock 4340 weld-on O.K. too) you can probably get away with around 3 inches longer than stock before youhave to start worrying about bushings and such.
Of course--your caster will be screwed, like 66CJDean said...
Good luck,

You want a 45 degree shackle angle. (in a perfect world)
