Yup it's got 14 bolts, :p the rest:confused:
Adam Ant 11-14-2001, 06:11 PM King Pin Dana 60 outers And 14 Bolt Center Section!!

Adam,
66CJdean 11-14-2001, 06:20 PM Why:confused:
If you didn't have a 60 center section get a rear 60 and use it. So now have the limited gear and locker choices plus less ground clearance and no chance of getting any stock replacement axles. Good job.:flipoff2::D

LMAO :D

Brawler 11-14-2001, 06:44 PM Why does no one ever keep it simple anymore? Seems to me that a 60 would have been a lot easier and cheaper to do.

ROFLMAO!!!!
Garza 11-14-2001, 07:47 PM  Holy crap that is bad. I love my front 60, but that idea crossed my mind. I would really love that for a rear steer axle. You dont need stock replacement axles when you run that beeach. Nice!!!
XJ Hunter 11-14-2001, 07:47 PM ditch the shiny diff cover. unless your gonna run curb feelers too
FordPowr 11-14-2001, 09:11 PM So who's busted the RC 60 R&P before the axles or u-joints blew????
Seems like a huge waste of time and $$$
well there is i am gonna build a Kia kind of diffrent = :rainbow: and then there is this kinda of difrent = :smokin:
pcorssmit 11-14-2001, 09:59 PM Somebody over on CK5 noticed the caliper brackets face the front, too.
Only thing I could think of is maybe its gonna be a mud truck, judging by the springs on it. I have heard of those guys breaking ring and pinions instead of the shafts (in rear ends anyway). Something about the loading of the high hp/low traction vs. the high torque/high traction that we see. Anybody else remember the rear axle buildup article on Quagmire in one of the mags a few years ago? They used like a 5 ton rear with Dana 60 (maybe 70 or 80, but pickup stuff) outers.

LOL!! :D:D
I think one of the scorpions (the tanish yellowish one) has a rear 14 bolt with D60 outers for rear steering actually not a bad idea, you people are all so close minded.... you can break a D60 pinion running in a straight line you usually break the shafts when you are turning!
four_by_ken 11-15-2001, 12:06 PM The caliper faces to the front because it has dual calipers. There is one in the rear also.
Ken H.
ROCKILLER 11-15-2001, 06:41 PM Looks like it was built right and if it were me I would've used a 50 center and some portal outers but that sure as hell looks like a mud truck. I still want to know whats under that tarp that will blow D60 pinions.
Curtis 11-15-2001, 07:12 PM I think that's a pretty good idea especially if the guy puts a huge big block in there. Remember the 14 bolt has the three bearings on the pinion meaning much more strength there. Ant said it right that you can break a 60 pinion in a straight line.
Rokrunner 11-18-2001, 07:06 AM In reply to not being able to get stock replacement axles..... Ithought dana 60 fronts had 1.5" 35spline axles and isn't this what 14 bolt runs so shouldn't the axxle slide right in if you built hte axle tubes the right length? Just running off at the mouth I'mnot sure on any of this.
pcorssmit 11-18-2001, 07:21 AM Me thinks the 14 has 30 spliners, ~Ø 1 1/2".

you Better go to the Junkyard And start Counting 14 Bolt is 30 Spline! 1 1/2 shaft.
Not 35 spline!!,,,:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Adam,,,
Rokrunner 11-18-2001, 07:31 AM This is the reason I added the disclaimer at the bottom. Youknow hte one about running off at the mouth and not being sure. Thanks for setting me straight though.:flipoff2:
