i took the original out along with the skidplate and put it in the bed works fine. only bitch is that i can only put in a half a tank of gas. more than i usually need anyway. :usa:

I just finished mine yesterday
I put in a 10 galln fuel cell and then used a inline electric fuel pump from a 89 ford f-150 hooked it up and its a go. (im running a toyota 22re though)

I had to move the fuel tank due to moving my axle back about 7 inches.

I dont know if Im going to like having the tank in the back. I guess Ill find out.

do you still use your stock fuel pump with the carburetor? is there an issue with flow due to relocation?

I would like to toss it in the bed and just use the stock tank but I don't want to run into any issues with flow.

no issue's with the fuel pump as far as flow. i just pulled the clamps off the lines so i could route them up to the tank. i hooked it up just like it was orginaly but with the tank in a different spot. of course just make sure the lines aren't kinked in any way. i had to replace the fuel pump but just cause the diaprahm was bypassing oil unto the fuel.

it takes up alot of room in the back for trail boxs and what not. if would ever mount the filler up high like high5 likes to point out every time he can :flipoff2: i could get a full tank. :usa:

I made a new tank:

It fits basically in the stock location, but is about 1 inch slimmer to clear my inset springs, and tucks up to the body. Holds about 12-13 gallons of fuel. also has much better ground clearance than stock, and doubles as a skid plate. Weighs a fair amount.

I like the idea of keeping the center of gravity down as low as possible. I figure that is a good 150 lbs when the tank is full. A smaller 10 gallon fuel cell may be 85 lbs or so since it does not need the armor if located up in the bed. (Not worried about the weight as long as it is down low.. I need the weight in the rear of the vehicle!)

psf4x4 all you got to do is open on line for the breather i just put a filter on mine. and make sure the fill hose is higher then the tank. :D
