that slinky thing is pretty trick. However, in that first picture, why is the body rolled to the side so much. It doesnt look like that much of a sidehill. That looks a little scary to me. Bad ass looking rig though, my hats off to the builder.

Chuck,
The m38 I am keeping. But I did give away a CJ2a earlier this year. Still got a back seat I couldn't give away though. How bought some matching low back buckets. This all Levi's addition stuff. Slightly worse for the wear.....

Austin,
Haven't looked underneath the tarp all year. Might be scary to see what is growing under there.

Duhoo! Free CJ! I made a trailer out of the one John gave me. Wish I would've got that free seat rather than the $50 I bought.

The hood usually draws a lot of attention. The guy who built that originally extended from the firewall forward instead of in the tub where it is needed. The only nice thing is that I can use a softtop and get to the bolts on the tranny really easily.

I hope to be at the challenge next year. I have some more problems to fix now though.

I can't decide the fate of the '51 MB I found this fall. It's bone stock and still has good OD green on the frame cuz it's been in good and dry NM and AZ since it came out of the Army.
It's a shame to think of chopping it to climb so I've been thinking of selling her to an appreciative restorer or just wait and do that myself later on.
Some things are best left alone ...

Jaffer,
Thats not an MB if its a 1951 its an M-38. Also looking at the picture tells me its an M-38. Tool indents on the passenger side, battery box in the cowl, vented windshield frame, and a tailgate. Defiantly M-38. Which is cool becuase they are the last of the military flat fenders.

Is that gauge panel just some kind of glovebox off another vehicle?
Nope, It was an idea that I and the sheet metal guy came up with to access all the wiring, fuses, projection and powerwelder. He made it out of sheet metal and used a "piano hinge" and a standard cabinent lock. Just cut a big hole in the old dash and basically made a big glove box with guages in it.
