I'm in the process of getting all the parts needed to swap out my 258 and T-5 in favor of a 4.0L and an AX-15. I have most of the questions to the motor issue answered, but I'm not familiar with the AX-15. I know I need to convert to a hydraulic clutch system, preferably external slave. Question is, what year did the AX-15 change from internal to external? Also, what modifications need to be made to the pedal assembly? I have a '91 YJ tub, and both the '85 and '91 pedal assembies, which would be easier to use? Any enlightening thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did the swap from internal to external in a 93 XJ.Got lots of help from this board.
In XJ's the change over year is 95. You need the Bellhousing, fork, release bearing, bearing retainer, pivot ball + spring, slave, hydro line, clutch disk and plate.
Don't know what year your master cyl is but the hrdro line with the ext. slave has a roll pin/oring connection. You might need a MC or come up with a way to splice the line.
Depending on the type of CPS you have you might also need the little plastic insert that goes with it. They were different 93-95. Mine came in the bellhousing
Hopefully someone with experience with YJ's will chime in if any of the sensors or other plugs aren't compatible.

Oh yeah, Pedal assembly from the 91 should work with the slave. 91 and 93 pedal assms are the same PN. Still goes back to which master you are using though.
