For a 1978 FJ40 that is in good shape that has only 27000 original miles. The interior is in perfect shape and the body needs just minor work. I just thought that I would see what everybody on here thinks it might be worth.

Also, it feels so good to be back posting on here. It has been way to long.

There's a really nice 1980 FJ40 here in Pioneer for sale right now for $7,000 OBO. It's super clean and very stock.

I keep looking at it wishing I had an extra $6 or 7,000 dollars to spend. I'd buy it in a heart beat !
I'd love to have a stocker for a daily driver.

The question is, How much are you willing to pay!!!:skull:
If you want to get a price comparison to how much they are going for look at the classifieds at Spector, or Cool cruisers of Texas. :skull:

Specter, Cruizers.com etc are a ref for what people are asking for their trucks, not what they are taking. All 40 prices are dropping to some degree, those earlier than 1974 are taking the biggest hit. A 27K truck should have a fantastic drive-line and being a 1978 it has good sheet metal and fine spline everything. Rust is still an issue, and any decreases value. Some may remember the 1988 FJ62 w/ 32K (one ebay several times) that was frame compromised from salt corrosion. Low miles does not mean mint condition. On the other hand, I have seen 175K 40 series that look new as far as the metal goes. Another down side with low miles is still the trucks various rubber seals (engine and weather-strip) can be wasted. The truck has sat a lot and I'll bet the knuckles leak or have a 'stop' in the bearing from age.

best advice, put it back stock (buy the missing hub cap, or dome lens, or radio cover..) and do any basic maintenance it may need (leaking output seals, side engine cover etc). Return it to stock w/ $100-$250 investment.

Clean, it may still bring $8,500-$11,000 but no where near the $18,000 they were fetching a year+ ago. And it will take longer to flip, holidays and general economy.
