I have been doing research now for changes to my TJ in the spring of next year. The lift is obvious and I'll probably end up with an Atlas. I would like to pitch the Ax-15 and have been researching a granny 4 speed or 700r4. There is some information available on the net for the 700r4 conversion but I havn't seen anything regarding a t18, sm465 ect.
I have looked at AA, Novak and Hicks sites but can't seem to find adapters for a chevy or ford belhousing to the 4.0. An X-15 is more or less a foot longer than a truck 4 speed and has the shifter located to the rear of the transmission. It seems this would put the 4 speed shifter about a foot forward of its current location not taking into account an adapter plate or differences in bellhousing lenghts. Am I missing something or would I have to hack out the bottom of my dash to make it work?
I'm sure for the right amount of coin I can have an adapter made but the swap needs to make sence. Like I said I'm just doing the research in advance to try and avoid any suprises. I like the idea of the manual but havn't ruled out the 700r4 either.
Any insight would be appreciated.
