Quick survey for Jeep 4.2L/4.0L motor owners:

If you were looking to upgrade the performance of your 4.2L/4.0L would you be interested in adding an after market manifold to your Jeep motor that would add 25-30HP threw the concept of "inertia-supercharging"**?

Do you think $300 is ok for a 25-30HP upgrade?

Using a larger than stock carb/throttle body would add another 10 HP. Would you retain the stock carb/TB or move up to a larger one?

If you were to use carburetor, would it be 2 barrel or a 4 barrel?

If you get a new TBI, would it “bolt up” to your factory manifold?

DEQ/CARB questions:

How important is being DEQ legal in your application?

Would you pay an extra $40 for a manifold that would be DEQ/CARB approved? (4.2L/4.0L)

**inertia-supercharging: the kinetic energy of the moving air down the (runners that are separate and equal in size and shape) or ramming effect to trap more air in the cylinder.

I didn't like the look of it. The runner length seemed mismatched. I got a 1999 intake off ebay. Like this one

Actually the all the runners are the same length. I should get a picture from Lloyd of the "dye's" to show equal length.. but anyhow.. thank you for your comments.

I have seen an article that I think Hesco  is a company that races XJs in jeep speed. They get a 25 or so HP from useing an intake off a Grand Cheeroki 4.0. It is a different desighn than the XJ.
