Here is a portion of the game plan for tonights BLM meeting:

For everyone who goes to the BLM Public meeting tonight..Coloma 6pm.. when we break up into small groups make sure your group puts down a sentance on their Goal Statement Pad to the effect of:

"BLM will allow organized groups to ADOPT the Pine Hill Preserve area inorder to perform clean up runs, trail maintenance and education"

If nothing else, this could allow "responsible groups" to use/access the area

PLEASE post Any other goal statement sentance suggestions NOW!! so we can all be fighting in the same direction tonight

The next scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2001 from 6:30 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. at the Coloma Odd Fellows Hall which is located at 358 State Highway 49.

It is along 49 in coloma on the south end.

If you are heading south on 49 it is on the righthand side of 49 just after the park and just before the hard 90 right turn where 49 starts to go up the hill.

the hall is set back off the road a couple of hundred feet or so.

Here is some background info.

)(*&^(*&^!!!!! We're having car problems... and down to one car. Dan got called into work at 7:30... which means he can't go to the meeting, which means I can't go to the meeting because I don't have a set of wheels to take there. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please somebody post back how many wheelers showed up and what happened! I'm so mad that we couldn't make it...

We had a minimally acceptable showing of 'wheelers. We didn't lose too much ground. Thank God the folks against us had a weak showing, too. It is a damn shame we had so few people, though -- we could have really capitalized on the opposition's low numbers.

Audra, you can make the next meeting after Thanksgiving... give me a holler next time on the cell phone and I'll find a way to pick you up.

I wish some of the rest of the folks here gave half the damn that you did - you've showed up to your share of meetings. It infuriates me to see people pay lip service to land access, and then repeatedly fail to show up when the meeting is less than an hour from their house.

We had a fair showing. I am very bad with names so I won't attempt to name everyone for fear of leaving some out. One of the issues didn't go our way by just a few votes. Those who attended were fairly evenly split. Five or six more people would have made a big differance. The best we did was prevent things from going through. We prevented a group conscience from passing 2 of 5 unfavorable items . A few more people and we could have eleminated them completely, changed things in a favorable mannor. It is not a done deal by any means. The next meeting is Nov 27 I think. There is still time to make a differance. These were my observations anyway. I am sure others can give a more detailed response.

Kate, we got a letter stating it was postponed because they were unable to resolve all the issues on the Norton ravine subject. It was rescheduled for 11/22. Was that still the case?

all of the wording was placed in the first meetings and now it is practically impossible to change so the first meetings were VERY important but that is not to say the one on the 27th won't be! I have met many of the land owners and I think it is important that they know who we are, not just people that show up at one meeting (not saying that is you at all, don't get me wrong). It takes atleast 80% of the people to win a vote - recreational users do NOT make up 80% of the vote so that wording that was put down before will not be changed unless we can get over 80% of the vote...

A few more 4x4 bodies in the room, like 2 or 3, and we could have strickent the sentance " the area will ONLY be used during the day time" from the draft goal statement. I know plenty of you have camped down there and if you ever wanna be able to again we need you in the meeting, its simple, all you have to do is stand up with the rest of us 4wheelers when its time to vote... thats it ..just get you ass off the chair and save a trail.

All I can say is if you wanna be able to use the area, just show up for 2 hours on Nov 27th!! No fawking excusses!

LOL well that is better than a bad excuse ;)

Try to make the 27th if ya can, I know it is a pain in the butt drive (a good hour and a half to get there for me :( ) but on the bright site the 27th is the last one so push for a BIG SHOWING! Nothing will be agreed upon, I am pretty sure of that but it will show BLM our side so when they decide the final wording they can take the recreational users into consideration...

heh? Where are you hearing that? Get it from the horses mouth (where did that come from?). Not the case...

Go and voice your opinion at the meeting

the public meeting are so we, the public, can tell the Govermant how we want the land to be managed and used..period...inorder to do that we must agree on a solution we can all agree on.

EXTREAMIST EXAMPLE:
we wan to be able to use the trail whenever we want, how ever we want party all night and shoot guns (like people have been doing there for MANY years)
The adjacent private land owners don't want anything other than foot access during the day only. (many want ZERO public access)

we need to find common ground we can ALL live with.
If that means restricting the area to organized groups on horses in a DAY TIME setting by $200 permit only, we will have to live with that,

AND YA KNOW WHY???????

thers only one reason!!!!!

YOU didn't show up and voice you oppinon on how YOUR PUBLIC land should be used.

We're far from finished with this process... I say that not to discourage people from coming -- more the opposite. The BLM will almost assuredly extend this process to address the issues. We're still working on a goald statement for the BLM chunks of the Pine Hill Preserve, and we haven't even got into specific recommendations (that will reference that goals statement).

We have to show up, and show upen masse.

We have to work with these people and show them that we are responsible individuals, members of responsible organizations, and are willing to work with them.

I'll see you all on the 27th, I hope.

We had enough of a showing last night to at least stop the homeowners and econazis from passing everything. However, they will win by default if this goes on. All they have to do is keep us from getting a majority and they'll force the BLM to make the decision for us. And believe me, the BLM will NOT make a decision in our favor without our help.

We need an overwhelming majority at the next meeting. Get yourselves and your friends out there! Get your clubs out there! I'm going to get as many of the people I know here into my truck and drag 'em up there to help the vote. And I'm coming from Fairfield through Sacramento rush hour traffic so don't complain to me about the long drive!

Let's save this trail!!!

We need bodies, people grab your uncle, sister, mom, dad, girlfriend, boyfriend, anybody, bodies at the meeting are what counts as votes. It's good exercise, stand up-sit down, stand up-sit down. NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!
