OK so how does this CAD stuff work?
Does it cycle suspensions and stuff? is that how you guys use it to figure out 4 links and stuff?
how do you make drawing like cages and junk?

it can.. depending on the program.. autocad sucks for shit like that. some of the solids programs are on the ball and then there is always pro-e

Just about any CAD that lets you "cycle" or animate your drawing is going to cost some big $$. You can do a close aproxamation with AutoCad by blocking and then rotating the parts of the assembly.

last time I checked, the latest release of auto-cad was abotu 1700 bucks, I don't wanna know what big $$ is to YOU!

maya's good, studio tools is bettah. there's a version of maya for $20-its a fairly limited program, but it can do simple stuff like cycle a link system though its made to do swoopy animations like all the star wars stuff. pretty easy to learn, if you have any CAD experience.
