I didn't personally do the job, but have it on my willys. What do you want to know about it. I have done a few other ones with the same idea. Let me know what you need to know.

Erin, so you are running YJ springs? I am thinking of using those also, but not with a heavy AMC V8, just a 4.3.

Do you like 'em, are they wrapping a lot, articulation?

Thanks for any info <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I would like to hear about this too, or see some pics. I am doing a s.r. on my GPW with yj springs sometime between now and Christmas. One twist to mine is that my springs are going to be outboarded. anyone done this- outboarded springs w/ a shackle reversal?

i went s/r on my early cj-5 with wrangler rears. has a similiar frame dimension to the flat fender so may be of help. i believe the front springs on the early jeeps are around 37" long and 1.75" wide while the wrangler springs are around 45" long and 2.5" wide. had to lengthen the front of the frame rails to accomadate the added length while keeping the tires in the wheelwells. new spring hangers etc also had to be added.

I thought about the wrang springs when I did the SOA & reversal on my 2A, but the width of the springs-tires rubbing the springs said no. I used the 2A rear springd in front and CJ5 rear springs in the rear. The wheelbase got to 80", without having to lengthen frame. But had to fab new mounts.

i hadn't thought about the rubbing, looks like ill have to use the same setup cuz the tires are coming close as it is with the stock springs. thanks for all the input everybody

oh yeah, cj2a1946, did you use lift springs or stock ones?

I used the stock springs, 5 leaf. I didn't need any more lift due to driveline problems. I still had ti grind the yokes to get the angles working. I bent the front driveline because of lack of yoke grinding. the front springs extend past the frame a little, but the front mounts and custom bumper hide it.

What about a shackle reverse on a spring over flat fender. I've heard pros and cons. Does anyone have positive or negative about going with the shackle reverse?
