Is there anyway to change the shift points on a TH400?.... I would like to move it higher in the RPM range... Right now shifting occurs around 1800 under normal driving about 3000 under hard acceleration... I would like to have it shift around 2400 and 3500...... This is my first automatic transmission I want to tinker with and my knowledge of them is ZIP, NADA, ZILCH....

there's a vacuum modulator on the passenger side of the th400. pull off the vacuum line and insert a small screw driver. twist the valve in (clockwise) 2 turns and reattach the vacuum line. now go drive the rig and see how much that changed the shift points. go from there.
i would not go too high because it's rough on the trans, u-joints and everything else in line. also, your fuel milage will decrease a tiny bit and so on.
enjoy!

woops! i almost forgot.
