Anyone have any real legit bearing tech info? I have been using a Timkin tapered bearing on my hub for 2 years. When I installed them 2 years ago, while trying to get it on the spindle correctly, a rolled popped out (1). I said f%ck it and used it anyways. I pulled it all apart yesterday and greased them up again and it still looks new. My question is, how big of a deal is this? The bearing runs secure in it's place while in the rotor against the spindle and race....I know everyone says they have to be replaced, but it is still working fine after this long and no problems. All the other bearing distribute the load, is this why it has not failed?? Thanks a lot :flipoff2: , for the help!

But the load now put on all those otherbearing rollers has now increased, causing the load on them to go up. The life of this bearing will be significantly shorter. Might be an ok set up on a trail rig that sees very few miles, but street us may kill it. Bearings do not cost that much. I would replace it and the race, just to avoid the "bootie fab".
Yea, I just broke down and figured I should toss a new one in.. Now for some really funny stuff;
I just found out that I have a missing one roller on one of the carrier bearings, in the front d44. hahahahaha, what luck! Now that I think about it, I found the pieces in the oil about three tears ago.... I thought it was a chunk of ring gear and couldn't find it.....So, I have been running it that way for years with no problems also. It must not be too big of a deal, due to the fact that they are only spinning when it's in 4 wheel. Since there are shims in there, i'm just going keep wheeling it until I go with lower gears.
