I bougt a set of '86 sammy axles, bone stock, or so they seem. (needed spare parts till the Toys can be rebuilt and installed)

the question is did they offer any gear range higher than 3.73:1?

this one seems to be about 2.5:1 or so. I have not tore these down yet, just doing the spin the pinion and count the revolutions thing.
It has me a bit confussed  as I thought all '86 and newer came with 3.73:1 ratios.
Just seeing if anyone else has run into this, or if the open diff has something to do with it. (one side has a frozen brake drum)

Thanks. :D

If one drum is frozen or held the free drum will turn twice as much as if both drums turned the same speed.

So count drum rotations, divide by 2, then divide by pinion rotations.

If stock and from the US you will get 3.73 or so.

Kool, 3.90's huh. what is the tooth count anyone know.

I have no Idea where these came from originally. but they are the cleanest axles I have seen except for the frozen brakes from sitting in the mud.

gotta tear them down and do the math I gues.

thanks guys
