Does anyone have the spec differences between the two frames? I saw something about frame specs not to long ago but couldn't find it. If someone could forward that I would appreciate it.

thanks

AFAIK (from looking at both in the wrecking yards), they're made of the same steel, same thickness and tubing dimensions, same hydroforming technology.

The bends are different, though, especially for the rear wheel arches - the arch in the TJ frame is much more pronounced.

Of course there's all that coil spring and control arm bracketry, as well... :)

What are you up to?
Might help if you said whay you wanted to know?
Looking to put a YJ drivetrain/body on a TJ to get coils? Not reccomended.

Let us know what's up and maybe we have some ideas.

About all I remember on this is that when Jeep announced the TJ and listed the major differences between it and the YJ, they made a big issue about how the TJ's frame was 30% stronger than the YJ's frame. They didn't go into detail on why it was but I do remember that much very clearly.

The reason I ask is the following;
I have been looking at getting a YJ and do a Wagoneer spring over, 350 TPI, 7004, etc. But after looking into the TJ, I started to like it a little better, interior wise and a little on the exterior so if i went with the TJ is the coil suspension any better or could I convert it to a spring over?

Aby feedback.
thanks

Ok, that I can answer.
TJ coils are cool, but after market kits that are any good (like the RE long arm) cost a FORTUNE!
So, if you want coils, I think you are better off to buy whichever frame you can get cheapest (in good shape) and build a four link and coil overs for it. Then it doesn't matter what frame you use, becasue the bracets will be custom.
TJ bolt on shiat costs way too much... and this is coming from a guy with the RE long arm kit - great kit, but if I could do it again, I would have got coil overs for the same money :D

IF you do not want to go custom, then I suppose you could get a TJ frame, and RE long arm kit, but why not just do a warn coil kit on the YJ frame?
