: .120 wall ??

I am making a front and rear bumper is it thick enough ??? I say 120 wall is = 1/8 th ( right ) think it will be sturdy enough this is for mounting on a 84 jeep cj-7 ...........ltr

yeah, that's adequate. i've got a front bumper and sliders made out of 1.5" diam. mild steel tubing with .120 wall. while it won't protect your front end from a major head-on collision, it'll sure do a better job than the POS stock chrome bumper. and it'll endure rocks fine.

if you want real strength, just do like my bro did and throw a big piece of angle iron on. that's real protection.

.188 works better but .120 will do fine.

Remember to keep in mind that the weld will split real easy on ERW if you don't design the bumper right.

You can also gain a lot of strength if you brace it good. You could also run double tubes with about 2'' gap between them and have a winch mounted to feed through the middle of the tubes.
