: Jeep not level???
marcotheman 08-30-2001, 01:21 PM I have an 88' YJ with a 4" suspension and a 2" body lift. I have heavy duty shackles front and rear that are about an inch longer than the stock shackles. The problem I have is that my jeep sits lower in the back then in the front. I think jeep look much better when they sit level or if the back end is a tiny bit higher then the front. Any suggetions on how I could fix this?
Thanks
Marco
Shorter shackles in the front.
Or do what I'm doing and relocate the upper shackle mount in the rear to below the frame for another 1.5" of lift
Monkeyboy 08-30-2001, 02:01 PM Did you put the springs on wrong?
fronts on the back and backs on the front.
murrar1 08-30-2001, 02:54 PM Was it ever level?
I had a '79 that leaned to the drivers side. Turned out the springs were bent just inside of the eye.
stormv 08-30-2001, 06:39 PM thats funny i thought all jeeps leaned to the drivers side.
Jeepmangled87 08-30-2001, 07:02 PM Maybe you bent a S-shape in your spring off-road this will for sure cause it to sagg, one way or the other..
Charly 08-30-2001, 07:10 PM Ever since my SOA, my YJ has been leaning to the passenger side.
withamc 08-30-2001, 11:13 PM What springs do you have? I had a Pro-Comp set on mine and it kept sagging in the rear. I ended up getting their heavy duty rear springs to compensate. They also have a lifetime warranty on their springs, so I just sent them in and they just charged me the difference between the regular set and the heavy duty ones.
RoCkSkuLLz 08-31-2001, 09:50 AM Those little details used to bother me but after replacing the springs a few times it got old real fast. Now i dont care if my jeep sits level or not... Mine tends to lean a bit on the passenger-side... Fawk it!

Exactly what I was thinking! its an offroad vehicle it aint gonna sit level! my truck leans different directions every time I drive it cause my sprigns are rather soft, do i care HELL NO ! unless you feel your rear springs are in someway damaged I wouldnt worry about it

massey2jeep 08-31-2001, 07:27 PM add a main leaf in the rear...not the eye leaf, just the next size down from another pack. Worked for me.
bluebellyday 09-01-2001, 05:23 AM Tell your, Mother-in-law, she can no longer ride in the back.

wheelinjp 09-01-2001, 07:42 AM Id just put a winch on the front
Acctually before you level that ride make sure you have every thing you will be taking with you every time. I learned this the hard way and put a 40 pound tire carrier, 100 pound full size spare 36-12.5, and spare parts and tools under the rear seat. With a spring over it makes a big difference. When that is all there then just adjust with shackles in the rear to bring it up.
