Got a '02 Shiver SC that came with my AC1, only used since December '02 and even then only a few times a month. Just started riding and I'm still a wuss, the fork has never been abused, wrecked-on or jumped higher than 2 or 3 feet. I took all the stickers off (except the tiny ECC sticker on the crown) the day I took the bike home, the fork is in excellent condition. There's a little paint rubbed off the crown in one spot where the brake cable rubbed on it, and some rub marks on the bottom of the stanchions (above the dust seals) where the dust guards were rubbing (very common on Marz inverted forks, but purely cosmetic). The sliding portion of the stanchions (where it really counts) is 100% perfect. Will post photos shortly.

I changed the oil to 5 weight (I only weigh 158 Lbs) a few weeks ago to soften it up (stock is 7 weight), works great and never bottoms. I can easily change it to 10 weight (a buddy has extra oil left over from stiffening his fork) if you're a heavy rider. I don't have any 7 wt oil, but if that's what you need I'm sure we can work something out, the stuff is cheap.

Added info:

- Fork includes the 20mm Marzocchi alloy aluminum axleshaft.

- Steer tube is 8-3/8" long, exactly as it came on my AC1.

- I believe it weighs about 4.5 Lbs.

do you still have the fork? I am in the process of closing a deal on my super 8, once it's done I will seriously consider your fork. Pics?
BTW, your offer still stand on 10wt oil?

Actually we used most of the 10wt on my buddies Junior-T, but I just bought a quart of the Marz factory 7.5 wt oil ("Golden Spectro", usually available at Yamaha motorcycle dealers, I paid $16) and could put it back to stock.

How much do you weigh?

- Oil viscosity controls the compression rate (and the rebound to some extent, but you control that with the adjustment screw)

- The adjustment screw on the right stanchion controls the rebound (a few turns makes a HUGE difference)

- Oil level controls how progressive the travel is (makes a HUGE difference)

Tuning is easy.
- Ride it on your roughest trail and slowly increase the rebound 1/8 turn at a time until you feel like the fork is bottoming out. It's really not, it just isn't extending fast enough and is "packing up". Back off the screw until you're in the sweet zone.

- Look at where the dust line is on the stanchions, if you're close to bottoming it out you may want to add more oil. Don't bother pulling everything out to check the oil level, just pull the caps and add more oil 1/4 oz at a time. If you're not using enough travel, use a MityVac pump to suck out a small but equal amount from each stanchion. Don't add or remove too much oil each time, a little makes a big difference.

- If you really feel like you need to mess with the compression or have maxed out the rebound adjustment and need more, change to a heavier oil. If you have the rebound all the way out and it's still too slow, change to a lighter oil.

Easy!
