So... WWII... I got that one wrong.

Only because I don't remember Russia being an Ally. Now.. they mighta been after Germany turned on them, but I thought they also signed the agreement with Japan and Germany to attack the US.

Or... is my pre-caffinated brain misfiring?

Was afraid of that.... better go get my caffiene.

But.. for some reason I thought Russia and Hitler were on the same side. At least until Hitler decided he didn't need Russia anymore and turned on them.

The Adam Blaster

I'm pretty sure Russia was never on their side, the Rusky's only became an enemy of the US after the war, and that's how the cold war developed.

AFAIK anyhow.....

The easiest way to determine that answer was Italy. It was in two of the answers and they were allied with Germany the whole time.

Even if you didn't remember that Russia was ever on our side, you should have remembered that Italy was definitely not on our side, and that would have given the question away. ;)

Number 4 is wrong, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't free the slaves in the confederacy, but I guess they want immigrants to think Lincoln was a good prez.

I thought (and man it hurt to think back a few years to that class I took) it didn't free the slaves who were fighting for the Union or the slaves who were in the south, but now under Union controll. The "Rebel" states basically thumbed their noses at it and blew it off because it was not something they obviously supported. I also thought Lincoln was into the whole white supremacy thing, so he basically only started the war to keep the whole Union together. But after some time he changed his views a bit, and put into play the preliminary proclamation for those still rebeling. That didn't actually end slavery, but was basically the thing that laid out for the 13th Amendment to be written which did eventually free the slaves?

The Emancipation Proclamation did free the slaves in rebel states (leaving the slaves in the 4 border states in bondage). The trick is that if they were rebel states who would expect them to listen to a new law passed about them? It was never expected to actually free the slaves, it was to make slavery the focal point of the war and create a moral issue instead of a political one (states rights).

10/11 Missed the number of amendments. Not good considering I think of myself as knowledgable on the constitution.

My brother in law is going through his fourth or fifth attempt at citizenship. He goes to be fingerprinted and photographed by the FBI AGAIN tomorrow. He has trouble with citizenship, yet he crosses borders more easily than my sister in law... Go figure.

Peace,
Paul

Not quite.

THe us supported the russian dictator, back in the 1900's and in fact sent some us troops to fight against the communist revolution in 1916-17 (I think) My great grandfather was there. Before ww2, we were fairly isolationist, and the russians weren't doing much to worry, us, so we weren't really enemies, athough niether courntry liked the other. Russia didn't really support germany, but they were'bt opposed to them, either. They signed a non agression pact, essentaily alowing both courtries to take over their parts of europe. Then, hitler attacked russia in 1940, so they became enemies. We supported the russians only because of a common enemy, and the fear of what hitler could do if he had russia. Evan during the war, there was signifigant bikering. We were allies only in the sense of having a common enemey, and no more than that.
